Pensacola, Florida's first McDonald's Restaurant

Which Item on the McDonald's Menu has the most calories?

You might be surprised, not only by which item has the most calories on the McDonald's Menu, but just how many calories (and fat.. bad fat) it contains.

The single item with the most calories is the .32oz Triple Thick Shake with 1110 calories.

That being the top calorie content in beverages and all around single item on the McDonald's menu.

The single item with the most calories otherwise is the Angus Bacon & Cheese sandwich with 790 Calories.

A large (5.4oz) fries to go with the above holds 500 calories, and if you don't consider the Triple Thick shake a double for desert as well, then you could feast on one of their famous Hot Apple Pies for just a few extra calories of 250. We would suggest you forgo the 4oz Cinnamon Melts with 460 calories if you're having the above thick shake with your meal.

So based on the recommended 2,000 calorie a day diet for the average person, one could easily fill up today's recommended calories along with tomorrow's and most of the following days too by eating even two meals there today.

McDonald's Big Mac with 540 calories

McDonald's food items various calorie count

Here are a few "lower calorie" options you could choose from (calorie content included):

Big Mac®: 540

Premium Crispy Chicken Classic Sandwich: 530

Premium Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich: 530

Filet-O-Fish®: 380

Quarter Pounder® with Cheese+: 510

Hamburger 3.5oz: 250

Cheeseburger 4oz: 300

Of course unless your a child, you would pretty much need to order 2 or 3 of the regular cheeseburgers or hamburgers considering their size, just to feel full.

Why eat at McDonald's when we know it's bad for our health?

For one, the food taste great. Oh yes, even as health concious as the author of this hub is, she LOVES McDonald's. Big Mac® and Filet-O-Fish® are the favorites!

Then why, if there are so many health food establishments out there like Trader Joes do we always end up dining beneath those Golden Arch's? You could agree that our society has somehow come to the conclusion that "healthy" as in health foods, etc are a middle class trend with prices to support.

Why pay $4 for a Watercress Sandwich with extra alfalfa sprouts when you can pick up 4 regular hamburgers for the same price? Unfortunately, these fast food restaurants have seemingly taken advantage of the economy we're currently in and introduced their "$1 Menus".

You can check all of your favorite foods on the McDonald's Menu Item's Nutrition Facts.

McDonald's Expresso Coffees

McDonalds jumps on the Latte express!

And if high calorie foods weren't enough, they've launched their own line of Specialty coffees and beverages. Among some of the new caffeine packed, syrup drizzled, calorie rich thirst quenchers are:

Iced Coffee - Carmel (17oz): 270

Iced Coffee - Regular (11.5oz): 200

Nonfat Caramel Latte (20oz): 260

(with various other tastes & sizes varying from 50 calories to 390 calorie coffees)

I eat at McDonald's every now and then when I want to gobble down a huge amount of calories to get my energy up for some hard, heavy labor. I love McDonald's food because most of it doesen't have garlic, a seasoning I can't stand.

Jed, they do (or at least have made an attempt) to increase the healthy side of their menu. I love their grilled chicken sandwhiches and it only takes about 5 seconds to ask them to hold the mayo or secret sauce, right? :)

One of my first jobs was at a McDonald's when I was only 15, I believe a lot of my McD cravings come from nostalgia ;)

(incidentally, I grew up about 25 miles from the McDonald's restaurant shown in the picture above)
