There is more to ordering special made shirts than simply choosing a company and ordering. For starters, you should shop around & compare prices just like you would any other product you are in the market for. Finding a reputable company:

• How long have they been in business?
• Do they have a portfolio (even a photo album with pictures of their work) that you can look at? If your design is a bit complicated, do they have the experience to do a professional job?

• Have they explained the care of the chosen style? Are the shirts you chose for the T Ball team safe to go in the dryer? Are you going to have to either hand wash or line dry them after each game several times a week?

Make sure you ask questions about the material and care before you invest all of the little league's bake sale and car wash money into a product that will stand up to their play.

Embroidery (using thread to "sew" a design or lettering into the fabric) is nice if done professionally and usually feasible if having Company name, logo, and / or personnel name applied over the pocket, etc. A nice Polo shirt as a company uniform or club would do nice.

Silk Screening, or Screen Printing is done by applying a special paint directly to the garment instead of applying a pre made transfer (such as iron on transfers). Unlike iron on transfers, the "screened" design will last longer, less susceptible to peeling and cracking. When ball caps are ordered, the design is often applied to a special transfer paper and then applied to the cap, but this is different than your average iron on transfer. This type of custom made t shirts are best suited for middle of the road use. Restaurants who are casual and may incur employee turn overs use them due to the fact that they maintain their color and appearance longer, but are less costly than embroidery. Some people use them for family reunions, etc.

Iron On Transfers: Transfers are less expensive in most cases simply because the shirts are easier to produce and cuts down the length of time required to make. The design can be screen printed on special transfer paper and then placed on the shirt and applied with a steam press. It's less costly to the company making the shirts to throw away a piece of paper that smeared or suffered a mistake, than it is to toss out a perfectly good T shirt. This type of custom made shirt is great for little league teams who will outgrow them usually by the end of the season.

Custom made Shirts are a great way to show the world your spirit or where you stand on an issue. It's possible to have even one single shirt made up for that special person who is known for a whitty saying or act. The expense of developing and setting up the custom design is normally a one time "set up fee" and is the same whether you are ordering one or one hundred in most cases. On the other hand, you are more likely to be given a discount on the price of individual shirts the more you order.
